You've made the decision. Moorea is your destination. Now, what's the best way to get here?

When the Bali Hai Boys first came to Tahiti in the 1960s, the island was so far off the tourist map they literally had to take a commercial freighter. It wasn't very luxurious and it took a tremendous amount of time. Getting over to Moorea from Tahiti's main port of Papeete took even more creativity. And forget about taxis to take you to your hotel once you arrived. There weren't any ... in fact, there really weren't any hotels!

Fortunately for us, times have changed ...

These days, five separate airlines fly to Papeete and some arrive daily. Tahiti is now a very convenient destination from Los Angeles on Air Tahiti Nui and is serviced worldwide by Air New Zealand, Air France, Hawaiian Airlines and Qantas.

Getting to Moorea from Papeete has become just as easy. Air Tahiti has an incredibly convenient schedule which includes flights that mesh nicely with Air Tahiti Nui's Los Angeles flight schedule, enabling you to get on a plane in LA at 1 p.m. and arrive at the Club in time to unpack, unwind and get a good night's sleep! If your flight arrives during the day, consider the jet powered catamarans which depart for Moorea hourly beginning at 6:15 a.m. from downtown Papeete's main dock. No reservations are necessary and the fare is less than $10 per person one way. The voyage takes about 25-30 minutes. Click here for a schedule.

Even the last few miles are taken care of: vans and buses meet all boat and plane arrivals in Moorea. It takes only 20 minutes to reach the Club Bali Hai. The fares are regulated (not metered) so ask your driver for prices. (Note: hotels do not have shuttle services from the airport.)

From tramp steamer to a one-day trip to paradise ... that's what we call progress!
